(My niece sent me a challenge to read the book of Luke during the month of December. When I looked at the challenge, I was prompted to try to write a devotion for each chapter. These posts are the fruit of this challenge.)

Today we read Luke 2. Such a familiar passage about the birth of Jesus that is often quoted this time of year.
It is then followed by the accounts of Jesus as a boy. Words of prophecy spoken over him at the temple after his circumcision and the 12 year old Jesus speaking with the religious leaders at the temple. Finishing up with the summary of Jesus’ growing up years in verse 52. “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
He was truly “God with us” Emmanuel. He took on our ordinary so He could bring God’s extraordinary to our world and into our lives! What a Savior!
